This season is short

My friend Karen Olsen inspired me. If she can be a coach's wife, with 3 active boys, work full time, be 25 weeks pregnant and publish a blog, I have no excuse. I'll start by saying how thankful I am that Karen is pregnant instead of me. I love my three children but my blessing cup runneth over.

Sami took some pictures in Florida of a roller coaster. I explained to her that April was the month of the year that was like the long ride to the top of the roller coaster and May was like the giant hill that characterizes every great roller coaster. It's really scary, you feel sick to your stomach, but if you throw your hands up you will have a great time. That's how May is already shaping up. It seems every day a new thing gets added to the calendar.

In addition to the very active soccer schedule of the older two, our business is exploding. We should be working 60+ hours per week, and we would if we could find 60 hours. Ok, so we sleep in until 6 am and we are faithfully in bed by 10:30 pm, so I guess I could find a few more hours. I feel like my mantra is, "This season is short, Sami will be gone in 3 years, all of them will be gone in 10 years, work will still be there. This season is short, the children are the most important thing right now (after our faith and marriage, of course)." So I continue to pick them up after school nearly every day, I continue to go to nearly every soccer game and still find time to volunteer now and again. (This season is short, this season is short. Ecc. 3:1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.)

I'm also thinking, you could be working now instead of blogging and watching Idol, but really I'm finding that my passion and energy is best when I spend restorative time for me. Is that aging or is that wisdom?? As I count down 3 more days to my 36th birthday I choose to affirm it's wisdom.

Thanks for joining me on a journey of discovery.
